Apple MDM Profile Builder is a skill for Mac admins who need to design configuration profiles and Declarative Device Management (DDM) workflows for Apple device fleets. It checks Apple-first guidance before producing any deployment recommendation, then maps that recommendation into concrete implementation steps for either Jamf Pro or Kandji.

The skill covers a wide range of managed settings: restrictions, PPPC/TCC privacy controls, system extensions, FileVault encryption, Platform SSO, software update deferrals, certificates, Wi-Fi and VPN configurations, login items, and app controls.

For each request it produces a structured output: a documentation check and management mechanism recommendation, a payload and settings table describing the proposed profile or DDM workflow, step-by-step Jamf Pro or Kandji implementation guidance, a target scope definition, validation steps, rollback notes, and a user-impact summary.

The skill does not request secrets, API keys, private tenant URLs, or credentials at any point. It is designed to assist planning, not to replace official Apple, Jamf, or Kandji support channels. It is most useful when a Mac admin wants to draft a deployment plan against current Apple documentation before committing changes to a live environment.

Use cases

  • Plan a PPPC/TCC profile to allow a specific app access to system resources on managed Macs
  • Design a FileVault deployment workflow with Jamf Pro or Kandji implementation steps
  • Draft a Platform SSO configuration profile with scope, validation, and rollback notes
  • Build a software update deferral policy and review user-impact before deploying
  • Design a Wi-Fi or VPN configuration profile for an Apple fleet
  • Map a Declarative Device Management workflow for managing system extensions

When to use it

  • Planning a new MDM configuration profile or DDM workflow before pushing it to a live Apple fleet
  • Checking which management mechanism is current and recommended for a specific Apple setting
  • Generating Jamf Pro or Kandji implementation steps from a requirements description
  • Drafting rollback and validation procedures alongside a profile deployment plan

When not to use it

  • Managing non-Apple devices — the skill is scoped to Apple MDM only
  • Directly applying or pushing configuration changes to a live MDM tenant
  • Situations requiring integration with MDM API credentials or live tenant data
  • Replacing official Apple, Jamf, or Kandji support for production incidents
